My name is Theo Alexander. After practicing as a psychotherapist with LGBTQIA+ clients for 14 years, I joined the de-licensure movement in 2025. Throughout my time in the field, I struggled with the pathologization of the diagnosis model, how deeply it enforced hegemony, and how limiting it felt in its understanding of our infinite capacity. My commitment to working with LGBTQIA+ folks was always about liberation, and the container of traditional psychotherapy was just not able to hold all of our unique potential and absolute perfection in our design. I began to explore other modalities that might factor in the multidimensional nature of our consciousness, and adopted the term transdimensional as a personal identity descriptor, as it felt more aligned.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a studying and practicing astrologer. In astrology, I was exposed to duality/multiplicity at every step, and as I began to offer readings, the astrological frameworks seemed to be able to hold my transness and others' uniqueness with less puzzlement. Diversity is nature. It is basic, and astrology has very simple and nuanced language to articulate this. No dandelion is like another though they may look alike from a distance.
Similarly, the archetype of Leo can have traits that could be pathologized as symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder by the DSM-V, and the traditional psychotherapeutic frameworks could attempt to FIX this. We could use trauma-focused therapies to explore the roots of trauma, relational work to develop trust and intimacy skills, somatics to get present and in the body, or even Internal Family Systems to name and give voice to our parts. But what if our parts already had names, and those names not only got to be heard by us, but had strategies millennia old on how to work with the gifts and limitations of those parts. From that frame, we do not need to fix the Leo’s narcissism, but to accept it and perhaps harness it, with respect to the gifts and shadows of its nature. Leo is also the sign of leadership and inspirational mastery. That side does not appear in the DSM. I entered this work not to tame the lion for the zoo, but to support the lion in remembering it is powerful enough to break free. I now offer services under the umbrella of chironic arts. They are tools that I have acquired and gained expertise toward through my own experience and professional study and practice. We are exactly who we are supposed to be and I believe these tools support our remembering. * * |
